The falling times

The world’s information is doubling every two years. In 2011 the world will create a staggering 1.8 zettabytes. By 2020 the world will generate 50 times the amount of information and 75 times the number of "information containers" while IT staff to manage it will grow less than 1.5 times. New "information taming" technologies such as deduplication, compression, and analysis tools are driving down the cost of creating, capturing, managing, and storing information to one-sixth the cost in 2011 in comparison to 2005.

The future is inevitable. Information is everything and everything is information.

Information is the engine of social existence. The meaning of signs pervades the systems around us, be it in communication, abstraction, or in language.

We live in heavy Info-Pollution. The Info-Society has created a new kind of consumer – the Info-Consumer! The most consumed information is the news today. The news has been turning more and more into an entertainment – the Infotainment.

The news producers are the biggest info polluters of our time and thus are the biggest contributors to the info-Ecological disaster.

The minimalist data visualization contributed the info Ecology discourse and to relativize the perception of the news and information in general. Information does not transport any meaning any more but rather creates a pattern decorating our daily life with the feeling that we are connected to reality.
